These caramel apples come together so quick- you might be giving them out to trick or treaters this year! Just three ingredients-ok maybe four if you count the apples.
First things first...
Prepare apples: Rinse and thoroughly DRY apples with a paper towel. Remove stems+ insert a caramel apple stick or in this case *twig into the center of each apple. Have toppings ready if you’ll be adding some to the apples. ( Though I suggest waiting until the caramel is about set, trim off the pool of caramel at the bottoms and then dip in all the goodies..)
Prepare plate for apples: Line a 13 by 9-inch baking sheet with a silpat or parchment paper, spray parchment paper with non-stick cooking spray, set in the fridge. (this is a key step to ensure your apples keep their caramel in all the right places and quickly cools down the caramel
Add caramels +cream to sauce pan: Place 1-11oz bag of caramels and 2 Tablespoons of heavy cream together over med-low heat-contantly stirring. If it’s extra runny let it cool just briefly so caramel doesn’t run right off the apples.
Dip apples in caramel, roll in toppings: Dip apples one at a time on an angle so it covers nearly to the top center
Lift apple and let excess caramel run off, then run bottom of apple along inside edge of bowl to remove excess caramel.
Turn apple upside down to let caramel run up the apple a bit, then immediately roll in toppings (or sprinkle with toppings) before caramel completely sets.
Repeat process: Turn apples upright and place on prepared baking sheet in fridge, As needed reheat caramel in saucepan for a dip-able consistency.
Let caramel set in fridge: Allow caramel apples to set completely, about 30 minutes in the fridge before serving guests
